faces in the rain

so much I can't capture in these storms

the low rumbling growl that emanates from everywhere
the winds whipping scream,    the skies roiling, pulsing movements
and how on occasion,   in the middle of this furious chaos
everything suddenly stops
the quiet stillness feeling   dense,   ominous 
more frightening than the fury

 the story this storm stands out in my mind
one the advantages of having little left to lose
is that you rarely have fear
but I remember thinking at this moment above "this is going to hurt"

-looking west, in the middle of nowhere where I usually can (can't) be found
the clouds above were growing larger in a slow bubbling movement
rain below marched south (left)   swallowing the horizon in shadow
 the evening hours approached,   the sun began to show from under the storms darkness
the light, as if through a prism, creating strange shifting colors
-  then out of all this, in opposite direction from the rest
the one cloud at the bottom started expanding with sudden fierceness
and where I stood I could feel the pressure drop
all became quiet
